”Techno Times”

Weird but suitable picture for this blog..

Oh these are ”Techno Times” that we are living in.

Isn’t it great? …..Or *dramatic music* IS IT?!

I have so much to say about technology, So much to say in fact, that I don’t know where to begin, or how to organise this Blogget (my name for a Blog entry- amusingly quirky right? 🙂 I told you I’d keep you entertained).

I think what I really want to focus on is something I’ve noticed since the global technological advancement. It’s a bit of a ‘chicken & egg’ situation, but I feel that since this techno boom, ”Time” no longer has any pace but ‘full force acceleration’.

What happened to long lazy afternoons?

Or days that seemed to never end?

Where did those summers that felt so mind numbingly long and boring go?

There is most definitely distortion in our perception as we look back. Age plays a role, if your 93yrs old of course it will feel different…but im 23, (hate to rub it in your faces all my 93yr old fans, but there we go, im young, youre not), and even I can see a huge difference!!!

In the last 10 years especially, it seems as if there is no time to do anything. Days go by in the blink of an eye. Think about it, were already in MID MARCH 2011!!!

Technology has taken the value we gave time away. Time became irrelevant. We didnt have to wait a week for a letter from abroad, we could send an e-mail in a second. We could fly thousands of miles in hours, not take a boat. We didnt have to invent ways to spend our evenings making our own entertainment, we just had to click a button.

We now fill each minute up with a constant influx of electronic enjoyment, that the most valuable of gifts we had, ”TIME”, has decided it wont take us ignoring it any longer, it feels useless, robbed of being able to dictate how our lives are planned. Robbed of all this by Technology. So it seems its rushing right to the end, in a strop.

There is a price for everything, life is one big transaction. We paid the price for bathing in technological delights, was it worth it?

Your Thoughts?

It’s all so very true. It’s astonishing the way that technology has made almost everything so impersonal. From email, to texting, to the self checkout machines at my job. The voice box definitely does not make up for the fact that there is no lover a person to greet you, make you feel welcome, and make it a personal transaction. Technology will definitely play a part in the downfall of mankind. Oh, and technology made this possible, currently on the road, yet able to read and comment on this with no problem. Good or bad thing? Food for thought.

  2. Very good point! I think the factor of moderation is essential. No inanimate object/product etc can be evil/bad, its our application/use of it which makes it positive or negative. Technology can be used for good purposes, whether it is on the whole, is another thing. But balance in its use, good or bad, has to be excersied!

I totally agree. Sometimes it feels like technology is taking away part of our humanity. What can we do though? All we can do is affect our own lives.
