   Look At Yourself…You’re A Mess!

It is easy to sit on the sidelines and watch things go up in flames, so easy then to commentate. You’ll have a hundred suggestions, Lord of Insight you’ll be. But see how fun it is when you’re the one who’s burning.

When it’s your life crumbling to ash, then things aren’t so simple anymore. Where have the laughs gone? Or the gloating smiles and self satisfied sighs.

Hey, it was fun seeing someone else take the heat, so why does it suck so much now that it’s me?

Everyone is a teacher or a preacher. But teaching and preaching the ideal path is easy, walking on that road is the hard bit.

But it is so much easier to focus on what is going on around us than focus on ourselves. It’s hard, turning that glaring light onto our own car crash, and picking out from the wreck, some meaning and way forward. That takes courage. Who needs that? Coasting by gloating is easier and more fun.

But perhaps if we did pay more attention to our own life, maybe then we’d see not all the steps we take are perfect, or guided by wisdom.

Maybe what makes you so good at seeing the deficiencies in others is the fact you have so many of your own?

Stop sightseeing, and survey your own scenery.

When we face a problem in our life, we look left, we look right, up and down. To God, to Family, to Friends and heavens knows who else.

When will we look at ourselves and say my demise is by my design.

I’m the architect of this construction I call my life, and if there are any changes needed, it’s down to me. Sure I might call in contractors to help set up the scaffolding, build up some walls, break down others, do the jobs I can’t, but ultimately I am the project manager of this construction site, because I am the one who drew the blue print, I’m the one who had the vision, I’m the one who lives here!!!

There is no shame in calling for help, as long as you use your voice.

There is no shame in calling for help, if what you’re calling for is assistance in improving yourself.

By changing our self we change the world. By starting with our self, we start at the root problem. It’s said, be the change you want to see, nothing could be more true.

So let us all stop the sideline commentary, and instead, self commentate. Who knows maybe our lives might just improve?

Yours Truly

  1. By changing our self we change the world. By starting with our self, we start at the root problem. It’s said, be the change you want to see, nothing could be more true. I always tell others that “be the change you want to see in the world, by Gandhi.” I try to improve myself all the time, because I cannot change others.

  2. ‘…because I cannot change others.” — so so true!!!! so let us focus on us, great point Jackie!

  4. Interesting post, a reflection is much needed on a regular basis. This post does point you into the right direction. Thanks
