The Fire  (Part Two)

A glowing ember

Amongst a pile of ash

Just when you thought

I had nothing left

A spark of hope

Began to glow

What will become of it

You cannot know

It may translate

Into a forest fire

That will burn eternal

And never tire

Its flames could lick

The birds in the sky

Melt the ice

From mountains high

It could cause utter devastation

Be the talk, of a nation

Or it could give up

And die

In as quick, as the blink,

Of an eye

It may have no fight

In it left

It may abandon

The beating heart

Inside my chest

It may decide it cannot prosper

In a world so cold

And luck lustre

It has not made up its mind

It still

Is searching

For strength inside

Contemplating the road ahead

It has hope

As well as dread

Decisions, it has to make

Can it be strong

Or will it break

As it flickers

And undulates

As the glow comes and goes

What this means

You ought to know

That a battle is being waged inside

Fight or Flight?

It must decide.
